JOB TITLE: Job Coach

Job Coaches are the most critical element of the Delta supported employment system. They work directly with our consumers to provide a wide array of employment supports. They assist people to become more independent at various jobs in the community (e.g., working in restraunts, on cleaning crews, at shopping malls). They also work with people on skills such job interviewing, resume development, using work tools and interworker relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision and training of individuals, both on and off the individual's job site.
  • Assist individuals in job seeking, including completion of applications and attending interviews.
  • As needed, assist individuals in learning to perform their job duties at job site.
  • Assist individuals with personal hygiene to ensure that they present themselves in a culturally valued, image enhancing way.
  • Attend monthly job coach meetings, and in-service trainings as assigned.
  • Learn and adhere to all Delta Projects and individual program policies and procedures.
  • Know and implement all programs for individuals.
  • Know and implement proper procedures in the event of emergency. The safety of individuals comes first.
  • Ensure human rights of all individuals as outlined in agency policies.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with both the Job Coordinator and Coordinator.
  • Keep consumer progress notes and data.
  • Complete all required paperwork and record data and daily activities before end of shift.
  • Occasionally transporting individuals to and from work, possibly in your own vehicle.
  • Adjust schedule to meet needs of individuals in their employment.
  • Assist at other job sites if requested by your supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED BY: Coordinator - Residential

QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred: B.A. * and one year experience, or two years experience in working with persons with mental retardation. Additional experience may be substituted for formal education. * Or enrolled in a course of study culminating in a B.A.

REQUIREMENTS: Good writing and verbal communication skills. Acceptable work history and good references (at least two). Must have a car, valid Mass license, and a good driving record.
