JOB TITLE: Instructor - Residential
Instructors are the most critical element of the Delta support system. They work directly with our consumers to provide a wide array of residential supports. They assist people in becoming more independent in their home and in the community. They work with people on skills such as cooking, money management, decision making and relationship development
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach and supervise consumers, both at home and in the community.
- Perform all individual and group teaching sessions assigned.
- Assist consumers with domestic activities (e.g., cleaning, cooking, yard work) at the site as needed.
- Assist consumers with personal hygiene as needed to ensure that they present themselves in a culturally valued, image-enhancing way.
- Assist in general upkeep of facility and perform housekeeping duties as assigned.
- Learn and adhere to all Delta Projects and individual program polices and procedures.
- Implement all programs for consumers, which may include physical interventions (such as lifting and running) and physical restraint.
- Familiarity with all medical information for consumers and follow proper procedures.
- Know and implement proper procedures in the event of an emergency. The safety of consumers comes first.
- Ensure human rights of all consumers, as outlined in agency policies.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with Coordinator about site issues.
- Keep consumer progress notes and data. Complete all required paperwork (e.g., incident reports, restraint forms) and record data and daily activities before end of shift.
- Transport consumers as needed, using your own vehicle.
- Remain at site until relieved by incoming staff.
- Assist at another D.P.I. site if requested by your supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: B.A. and or enrolled in a course of
study culminating in a B.A.
One year experience working with people with Mental Retardation. Good
writing and communication skills. Must have a car, valid driver's license
and a good driving record.
