In May of 2014 Delta opened a specialized home in North Attleboro for men with acquired brain injury (ABI). The program was enabled through a federal class action settlement enforcing the rights of persons with brain injury to receive integrated community services, as guaranteed by the ADA and the Medicaid Act. The agreement uses a federal grant project, the Money Follows the Person (MFP) Demonstration, as well as other waiver programs, to provide residential and non-residential supports for people with brain injuries who are now in tong-term rehabilitation facilities and nursing homes. Delta’s ABI home supports four men in a beautiful North Attleboro location, is fully accessible, and fosters a family environment while providing a wide range of services to support skill development and community membership. Specialized training is provided to the home’s staff, who serve as teachers and coaches in assisting the men toward realizing their life goals.
